World Space Week/Săptămâna Mondială a Spațiului Cosmic

During the WSW- 4- 10 Oct. 2016, 18 classes will organize activities in order to celebrate WSW and develop their STEM skills. The students will organize exhibitions, make experiments and share the results, present their projects related to Space Science and participate in lessons with specific topic.

Classes 2A, 4A and 4B activity painted and made collages related to the "Solar System". The students shaped and colored The Sun, the planets, the Moon and astronauts who explored space.
The preparatory class C students made the planets of the Solar System using clay. Then they simulated their movement of the orbits and shared knowledge of outer space while  they enjoyed the sunshine, fresh air.
Preparatory classes A and D held a joint activity that began with the video "All About the Solar System" . After a discussion about the movie, students made an accurate representation of the Solar System using various pictures.
Class 1D studied the Stephen Hawking’s work “A Short History of Time" from which they learned that space is relative and infinite at the same time. Then the  students watched a short movie  about  Space. In the next hour, the students   used  tempera and gouache for creating paintings  representing  the Solar System.
Classes  1B, I1C and 2 D started with a  brief overview of what "World Space Week" is. The students  saw planets ,, '' ,, comet "constellation , asteroids, space crafts. They learned more about the Solar System, , planets , distance to the Sun and its size. The students were informed about Laika T the first dog who flew in Space. The activity continued with a short presentation about the natural satellites of the Solar System ", Moon, and the first Romanian cosmonaut Dumitru Prunariu. At the end, the children have revolved around the sun, like The Earth,  for understanding  the day and night and the seasons.
Class 1C conducted an experiment  using an egg representing planet Earth and its shell-crust. This experiment with egg  is very easy and requires ingredients that are found in any home: egg and vinegar. All you need is patience that in total, the experiment lasts 3 days. The students prepared a glass of vinegar and I laid the egg in vinegar. After fifteen minutes, the egg began to sizzle and bubble.
The students from 1A class traveled through outer space! They cut, assembled and stuck images satellites drawings playing a puzzle. They built the LEGO space shuttle. Each crew has used satellites orbits place to receive and transmit information shuttles that flew.
Classes 1B and 2D virtual travelled in Space. Then they painted the Solar System  and the astronauts and organized an exhibition.
The students from classes 3B and 4A exhibited a trip through the planets for the students from the preparatory classes. They played the roles of the planets and the Sun and performed roles. They dream among the stars! The students from 3C grade built the Solar System using fruits and vegetables! It looked great and..very tasty- as they ate it at the end.
3A graders talked about remote sensing and its relation with the satellites. The students understood the relation between remote sensing and digital images. They finished the day with a practical activity: Pixel your space! For understanding why pixels are important for taking pictures.  (Thanks to the teachers:  Nistor A, Begu C., Chirica, Coca A., Goila S., Cosma C., Bacanu M., Hammas I., Piticas B., Moise D., Damian E., Melcu C., Iordache V., Prundariu C., Coteanu M., Bordas M. and Vargau R.)
